Parade, Rain

Let it fall – the slosh,

mud-making, pith peeling,

wash of it. Let it pour

pails, scuttles, washtubs,

farm animals, front-end loaders,

tank trucks. Hose, gutter-flood,

monsoon and hurricane it.

Nor’easter my plans, disrupt,

postpone, evacuate, cancel,

wipe out. Unlock the locks,

plane the flood plain; Mississippi,

Nile, Amazon, my parade.

Stop me

before I love again.
